Loro Parque joins at FITUR the Alliance to promote Regenerative Tourism in the Canary Islands<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Loro Parque Group is attending a new edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), consolidated as one of the world\u2019s leading benchmarks in responsible leisure tourism, following an exceptional year in visitor numbers and international recognition, and with a strategy clearly focused on sustainable growth, quality of experience and animal welfare. Nearly 3.5 million people visited the group\u2019s three parks in 2025, a figure that confirms its leadership in the sector and the strength of its model based on innovation, conservation and positive impact on destinations.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s presence at FITUR 2026 provides a platform to share its vision for the future with professionals, institutions and the media: high value-added tourism committed to biodiversity, environmental education and sustainable development.
\n\u2018The tourism of the future only makes sense if it generates wellbeing for people, protection for nature and prosperity for destinations. At Loro Parque Group, we have been demonstrating for decades that excellence, conservation and profitability can and must go hand in hand,\u2019 says Wolfgang Kiessling, president of the Loro Parque Group.<\/p>\n

For Wolfgang Kiessling, these achievements are a direct result of the group’s philosophy: \u2018Animal welfare is not a slogan, it is a daily practice, a continuous investment in knowledge, facilities and human resources. Every birth is a sign that we are doing things right and that our centres actively contribute to the conservation of endangered species.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Loro Parque Group’s commitment to sustainability will be particularly visible at FITUR TechY, where the group’s vice-president and president of Loro Parque Fundaci\u00f3n, Christoph Kiessling, will participate as a speaker at the TechY Sustainability 2026 forum under the theme \u2018Tourism and technology as drivers of regeneration and sustainability\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Conservation can no longer be an accessory element of tourism: it must be its backbone. Our goal is to demonstrate that a responsible tourism model is not only viable, but essential for the future of the sector,\u2019 emphasises Christoph Kiessling.
\nOne of the key milestones of the Loro Parque Group’s presence at FITUR 2026 will be its participation in the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment Commission of the Canary Islands Alliance for Regenerative Tourism, an initiative promoted by the Canary Islands Government together with leading stakeholders in the tourism sector.<\/p>\n

Between February and May 2026, this Commission will work on the design of the Canary Islands Regenerative Tourism Project, which will be submitted to the regional government in June as a joint proposal from the sector. Its aim is to channel the contribution of companies and tourists towards real projects for renaturalisation, resilience and protection of the territory.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Canary Islands have the opportunity to lead the way internationally with a new model of tourism that is more conscious, more regenerative and more committed to its environment. At the Loro Parque Group, we fully support this vision because it connects with our essence: protecting biodiversity, generating a positive impact and building tourism with purpose,\u2019 underlines Wolfgang Kiessling.<\/p>\n

The group’s track record is based on a model with clear objectives, where the tourist experience becomes a driving force for conservation. Over the last year, Loro Parque has recorded a remarkable baby boom across numerous species, including capybaras, marmosets, sea lions, dolphins and the birth of the orca Teno, reflecting the scientific rigour, animal care and professional excellence of its teams.<\/p>\n

Siam Park continues to strengthen its position as one of the best water parks in the world. Its Siam Nights attracted more than 100,000 visitors, making it one of the most successful night-time entertainment events of the summer in the Canary Islands. In addition, FITUR will host the presentation of the award to Siam Park as the Best Theme Park in Spain, granted by the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists (FIJET), a recognition that further enhances its national and international prestige.<\/p>\n

Poema del Mar, for its part, has increased its number of visitors by 12%, consolidating its position as a first-class centre for scientific outreach and marine conservation, with new programmes focused on particularly vulnerable species such as Lake Titicaca frogs and cold-water corals.<\/p>\n

In the hospitality sector, Hotel Bot\u00e1nico & The Oriental Spa Garden has reopened after an extensive renovation that reinforces its position as an internationally recognised benchmark for wellness and health, endorsed by its recognition as the Best Hotel with Spa in Europe and the Mediterranean on eight occasions.<\/p>\n

The presence of the Loro Parque Group at FITUR 2026, from its stand at IFEMA Madrid, represents an opportunity to strengthen strategic partnerships and share its roadmap with the sector, to continue promoting quality, ethical, innovative and environmentally committed tourism, capable of positioning Spain and the Canary Islands as leading destinations in sustainability and excellence.<\/p>\n
